Western North gets passport application centre in Sefwi Wiawso

The Sefwi Wiawso Passport Application Centre has been commissioned to bring passport services closer to residents of the Western North Region.

The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Minister said the centre would eliminate the need for residents to travel to other regions to access passport services, describing the development as part of ongoing efforts to improve public service delivery.

He outlined a number of reforms being implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance efficiency, transparency and security in passport administration. He also expressed appreciation to regional authorities for their cooperation in making the centre operational.

As part of the commissioning ceremony, five applicants who had successfully applied for their passports at the Sefwi Wiawso centre received their passports from the Deputy Minister.

The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, described the commissioning of the centre as a major milestone for the region, noting that it significantly improves access to essential government services.

He thanked the President and the Minister for Foreign Affairs for approving the establishment of the centre and urged staff to uphold professionalism, integrity, and transparency in their work.

The event was attended by District Chief Executives in the region, the Regional Deputy Director of NADMO, heads of security agencies, as well as religious and traditional leaders, among others.
