About seven people got injured on Friday morning after some masked armed men stormed the Ho Central Mosque in the Volta Region, amidst sporadic shooting.
The motive behind the attack by the masked men, said to be numbering about five, was not immediately known.
The incident happened around 9:30 am.
Some people have linked the attack to a protracted dispute between two factions claiming the Volta Regional Chief Imam position.
Chief Inspector Francis Gomado, speaking for the Volta Regional Police Command, said 10 suspects have been arrested and are assisting with investigations.
Some others, whom he said were in a pick-up vehicle the attackers used, managed to run away before the arrival of the police.
He said calm has since returned to the area.
