A man seen in a video shared online, firing warning shots as a gun salute to Nigerian musician Asake and his friends at an event, as part of the December in GH activities, has been arrested and detained by the police on the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Wearing a white mufti, the man was seen in the video holding the gun.
A police source has told Graphic Online that, when the gun was retrieved after the arrest, it was identified as a DERYA MK-12 with the number 22-GHA 1162.
Identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg,” he told the crowd that warning shots are not allowed in Ghana but on that occasion, where his “brother from another mother” was in town, he was seeking permission from the authorities to fire some shots to celebrate him, and went ahead, hoisted the gun on his shoulder, and fired 10 shots into the air to which the musician and his friends jumped and showered praises on him.
