In a solemn display of faith and national unity, Aglow International Ghana has held a National Thanksgiving Service for the country, offering prayers and praises to God for peace, stability and His continued mercy over the country.
Dubbed “Aforebo Kɛse 2025”, the service was held at the State House in Accra on the theme: “Let everything that has breath in Ghana praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).
It attracted members of non-denominational Christian women’s fellowships from across the country.
Event
As early as 7 a.m., the members, dressed in national colours, were seen trooping to the State House grounds.
Amid the tooting of vuvuzelas, whistles, horns and the hoisting of miniature national flags, the atmosphere was filled with worship songs, thanksgiving and intercessory prayers as worshippers lifted their voices in praise, thanking God for preserving the country from conflict, instability and disaster.
Also, prayers were said for the President, the Vice-President and other state officials, as well as security agencies, political leaders and traditional authorities.
The National President of Aglow International Ghana, Dr Dorothy Danso, led moments of intercession and declarations, calling for restoration and renewed commitment to godly principles in national life.
She urged believers to remain steadfast in faith and obedience, expressing confidence that the nation would continue to overcome its challenges through prayer and righteousness.
Social cohesion
The National Prayer Director of Aglow International, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, expressed gratitude to God for the peace the country continued to enjoy, describing it as the foundation for national development and social cohesion.
“Peace is a priceless national blessing and the foundation for every other good thing, including development, family life and worship,” she said.
Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie said the country’s stability was sustained not by human effort alone but by God’s grace and mercy, and thanked Him for holding the nation together.
She also expressed appreciation to God for protecting the country from civil unrest, wars, disasters and external threats.
Sovereignty
A sermon delivered by Bishop Freeman focused on the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of humanity to give Him continual praise.
He said God alone was the creator and sustainer of all things, as everything that existed was made by Him and for Him.
“God alone is the true and living God, and everything that has breath must praise the Lord,” the bishop added.
He encouraged the congregation to live lives of praise and worship, stressing that God delighted in the well-being and prosperity of His people.
The service ended with prayers for unity, peace and divine direction for Ghana as the country looked ahead to the year 2026.
