Leicester City FC manager Marti Cifuentes says the goal Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored against West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Championship was a special goal.
He said this after Issahaku and fellow Black Stars player Jordan Ayew scored in the Foxes’ 2-1 win over West Bromwich. Jordan Ayew’s goal was the first for Leicester in 2026 at home.
In the wake of the loss, West Brom have announced the sacking of Ryan Mason as head coach with the club ranked 18th in the rankings.
Fatawu Issahaku powered Stephy Mavididi’s cross into the net with a controlled finish in the 94th minute to give Leicester its third win in four home games and speaking with Leicester media after the win, Cifuentes praised Issahaku’s resilience as he revealed that the winger was dealing with cramps before scoring.

“Yes [it was a special goal] I’m very happy for Abdul [Issahaku] because just before this action- scoring the goal- he was cramping a little bit. He wanted to keep pushing [in] the last minutes and that shows that when you believe in something and when there is togetherness in the team, then you get your reward” Cifuentes said.
