South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has rued missed opportunities in his team’s game against Cameroon after exiting the 2025 AFCON.

Bafana Bafana lost 2-1 to Cameroon that had a tumultuous run up to the start of the competition in Morocco with David Pagou taking over head coaching duties just weeks before.

After seeing his team exit the competition at the Round of 16 stage after finishing third at the 2023 edition, Hugo Broos was adamant his team’s wastefulness cost them a place in the quarterfinals.

“We started very well at the game and we had chances to score, I think if we had scored, we can never lose the game. I was happy with what we brought in the first half, so we thought to go on in the second.”

“Even we had the chances to score two goals and to have a draw, but it was not our day” Broos said to iDiski Times.
