Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg,” the man who brandished a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun at a public event and fired warning shots as a gun salute to Nigerian music star Asake, at the El Wak Stadium in Accra, has been convicted and fined on his own guilty plea.

He was arraigned at the Adenta Circuit Court on Wednesday [Dec 31, 2025] and he pleaded guilty.

Saddick, aged 54, was convicted and sentenced accordingly based on his guilty plea and fined 2000 penalty units, which translates to GH¢24,000.

The court also ordered that the gun, a DERYA MK-12 with the number 22-GHA 1162, should be confiscated to the state and Abubakari Sadick’s firearm License revoked.

He has since paid the fine in full, failure of which, he would have served two years in jail.

Abubakari Sadick was arrested on December 29 after a video circulated online showing him discharging the firearm during a December in GH event at the El Wak Stadium on December 28.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Service on Tuesday [Dec 30] announced his arrest. 

According to the police, he was picked up at Adenta for unlawfully discharging a firearm at a public event.

The police said he was arrested on December 29, 2025, at Adenta for possession and discharge of a firearm.

The incident reignited debate over public safety during festive events, particularly following Saddick’s reported justification that the shots were fired as a celebratory gesture for Asake, who had arrived in Ghana days earlier to perform at the AfroFuture Festival.

The DERYA MK-12, with the number 22-GHA 1162 after it was retrieved by the police.
