Nigeria open their 2025 AFCON campaign on Day Three of the biannual competition that is taking place in Morocco with a scheduled game against Tanzania on Tuesday, December 23 at 17:30 GMT.
The Super Eagles finished second at the last AFCON but their chaotic campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers have reduced their odds as favourites to win the title.
However, the team got a major boost from an entourage from the country’s National Sports Commission led by Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko, who presented certificates of a house and a land in Lagos and Abuja to players.
This gesture was to honour a promise by Nigeria President Bola Tinubu to players of Nigeria’s Team at the 2024 AFCON for finishing second in the competition.
Members of that team who are part of the present squad including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi received the certificates confirming the land and house acquisition for the players.

Similar honour of promises to Nigeria’s National Women’s Football Team and Women’s Basketball Team (both are African Champions) are set to be made in the coming days. Scroll down to watch video
